FEATURES

• The Grandstream GWN7830 is a Layer 3 managed aggregation network switch designed mainly for medium-sized and large businesses that need a fast, secure, and reliable network. In simple words, it acts like a central point where different parts of a business network can connect and communicate with each other. It is useful for connecting network switches, servers, routers, access points, IP phones, computers, and other network equipment. The GWN7830 provides 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports, 6 Gigabit SFP ports, and 4 10-Gigabit SFP+ ports, giving network administrators several options for connecting both standard Ethernet devices and high-speed fiber links. It offers 48 Gbps of total non-blocking throughput, 96 Gbps switching capacity, and a forwarding rate of 71.424 million packets per second, which helps it handle large amounts of network traffic efficiently.
• One of the most useful features of the GWN7830 is its Layer 3 routing capability. Unlike a basic network switch that mainly forwards traffic between devices, the GWN7830 can also perform routing functions within the network. It supports IPv4 and IPv6, static routing, and dynamic routing protocols such as RIP, RIPng, OSPF, OSPFv3, and BGP. This makes it suitable for organizations with more complicated network structures, such as offices with multiple departments, buildings, or network segments. Another important feature is VLAN support. VLANs allow a business to separate network traffic into different groups. For example, employees, guests, IP phones, security cameras, and management devices can be placed on separate VLANs even when they use the same physical network infrastructure. The GWN7830 supports up to 4,000 VLANs, along with private VLAN and Voice VLAN features. This makes it easier to organize a large network and improve both security and performance.
• The GWN7830 also includes Quality of Service (QoS) features. In simple terms, QoS allows the administrator to decide which network traffic should receive higher priority. For example, an organization could give priority to voice calls or video meetings so that they remain smooth even when the network is busy. The switch supports traffic prioritization, queue scheduling, traffic shaping, and rate limiting. Security is another major strength. The switch includes features such as 802.1X authentication, MAC authentication, RADIUS and TACACS+, DHCP snooping, ARP inspection, IP source guard, port security, storm control, DoS protection, and port isolation. These features help prevent unauthorized devices from accessing the network and provide protection against several common network attacks.
• For networks that use multicast traffic, the GWN7830 supports IGMP and MLD snooping, which can help manage multicast traffic more efficiently. It also supports link aggregation, allowing multiple physical network connections to work together to provide greater capacity or redundancy. Spanning Tree support helps protect the network from problems caused by network loops. The switch can also support stacking, allowing multiple compatible switches to be managed together and providing redundancy between devices.
